Issues with using CKS:EBE

Topics: Enhanced Blog Edition

i have installed and activated the feature. under site settings, it shows CKS:EBE under my blog website. i believe something is not setup properly. whenever i go into the master page of the blog site, it get the following two errors every time:

The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it
The system master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it

do I need to install, and configure the themes and master page by myself? is there any other install document that lists all the steps besides installation and activating the feature?

Activating the two features is all that is required...the features make alll the necessary changes.

If you de-activate the feature do you still get the problem?

When you say "master page of the blog site" do you mean default.aspx?

Can you navigate to home.aspx?

Can you open the site in SharePoint Designer and see the Themes folder, along with Homes.aspx, Posts.aspx, etc?

The feature does not touch the System master page and so it looks like there maybe a problems elsewhere. Could you try getting DebugView from TechNet to see what errors messages are being generated?

i was able to get this to work. Here are the new set of issues:

1. when i try to leave comments. i get "An unexpected error has occurred. Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services. ". i set it up on the second machine, and there it throws exception saying "System.Net.WebException: The remote name could be not resolved: rest.akismet.com". i could browse to rest.akismet.com fine (we do have an http proxy configured, just as an fyi).

2. on both machines, New post fails, with HTTP 404 Not found message. the url it tries to go to is "http://moss/Lists/Posts/NewPost.aspx", whereas i could bring up the newpost.aspx using the following url:

http://moss/blogs/Lists/Posts/newpost.aspx (blogs is my site collection, and blogs is the blog site underneath it).

thanks for all the help

Glad to know you got it working! Can you let us know what the initial problem was or what you did to resolve it?

1. Looks like the Akismet stuff is not using the proxy...we will have to fix that...thanks for pointing it out!

2. This is in the "Blog Admin" links when viewing the blog? Which Theme were you using & does this happen for all the themes?

Thanks, Vince

the comments problem happens irrespective of the theme.

i investigated the other problem and found out that the other problem happens because when i go to http://moss/blogs, i am served default.aspx which breaks all the links on the admin page. whereas if i pull up home.aspx, then all the links work.

another issue is, when i leave a post, it goes to the post List, and does not bring the user back to the main page.

when are u guys planninn to a releaes a new build of this? can i pitch in with any coding?

thanks
