Can't apply themes to Enhanced Blog site

Topics: Enhanced Blog Edition

I'm having a problem enabling the custom themes on a new, enhanced blog site. I've followed the installation docs and have activated both the web application feature as well as the site feature. I can see the themes listed in the themes folder on the site. I've also run stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs on all of our front-end servers. Anything else I'm missing here?

Some people have been having problems with the web.config modifications being pushed to the Web App. I have seen this before with SharePoint (Daylight saving bug), but it seems that the job which updates the web.config doesn't run for some reason.

People have said that it takes 45mins others have come in the next day and the job has run. Unfortunately its nothing to do with the EBE as its all standard SharePoint functionality (SPWebConfigModification) and so I don't really know how to fix it.

You can check you web.config and add the following entries....

      <SafeControl Assembly="CKS.EBE, Version=0.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e8b700c069fb747" Namespace="CKS.EBE.WebControls" TypeName="*" Safe="True" />

    <httpHandlers>
       .........
      <add verb="*" path="*/rss.xml" type="CKS.EBE.RssHandler, CKS.EBE, Version=0.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e8b700c069fb747" />
    </httpHandlers>

    <httpModules>
       .......
      <add name="CksEbeModule" type="CKS.EBE.BlogHttpModule, CKS.EBE, Version=0.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e8b700c069fb747" />
    </httpModules>

      <expressionBuilders>
        .......
        <add expressionPrefix="BlogUrl" type="CKS.EBE.ThemeExpressionBuilder, CKS.EBE, Version=0.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=3e8b700c069fb747" />
      </expressionBuilders>

I'm not sure if my issue is the same or not but basically I followed the installation instructions and didn't run into any issues. When I browse my blog however, I do not see any changes. I tried adding the code above to the web.config as it's not listed, but it errors with:

Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Unrecognized configuration section SafeControl.

Am I missing something?

Mark,

The entries need to go into the appropriate sections in web.config

The <SafeControl> will need to go into the standard SharePoint <SafeControls> sections.

Hi Vince,  thanks for your reply

I was pulled off on some other work but now i'm back on this.

I've added these entries to the web.config but i'm still not getting any change in the appearance when I browse my blog site. I went through the instructions and confirmed that all of the files are there and that the CSK:EBE application is active.

I'm not sure what else to try.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mark
