FBA Deployment issue

I have a dev server and a new FBA site up and running. I tried to run the "deploy http://fbaextra.domain.com" cmd while logged in with the system account that created the sites and site collection but received the error "Cannot open database "wss_content_fbaextra_dev"  requested by the login. login failed for user 'domain\system account'." the deploy goes on and claims to finish successfully, but the webparts and permissions links are not in place afterwards.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Got the deployment to work after using the account which installed moss. however when it completes I don't see the management links in site settings or the fba user webparts in the webpart gallery.

If I manually navigate to http://maintranet.domain.com/_layouts/FBA/Management/UsersDisp.aspx the page is there and I can manage the users. How can I manually get the links to display in site settings and get the webparts setup? I've tried undeploying and removing the solution from CA then repeating the process with no different results.

I got this to work on a site in a single server farm. This site is in a 3 server farm (wfe, app server, sql). Could that play a part in this issue, or did I not undeploy enough after initially having had the permission issues?

Not getting anywhere. The Features are in the folder, they just won't seem to activate.  I'm pretty wet behind the ears in Moss administration, but I'm all there is and this task needs to be accomplished and in production within the next 3 weeks.

This is unfortunately a problem with the last release.  See this post for details on how to fix:

http://cks.codeplex.com/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=51117

Make sure you do the edit with Notepad or a plain text editor, not Word or Wordpad.

The Self Management feature was cut from the release because it broke Blogs on SharePoint.
