Debugging in VStudio

Hi,

First of all, thanks for an impressive work with the Enanced Blog Edition!

I'm having problem debugging the CKS.EBE source code from Visual Studio. No symbols are loaded and the breakpoints never hit. Here's what I've done:

  • I've downloaded the CKS.EBE source code and opened up the solution in Visual Studio 2005.
  • I've built the project and installed the solution in my SharePoint site it using the batch file.
  • I've activated the feature and verified that it works on my blog site.
  • I've changed web.config like this: <compilation batch="false" debug="true">
  • Now I set some break points in Visual Studio that I know will fire, for example in the OnInit event in the PostList class.
  • I attach the debugger to the w3wp.exe process and reload the Blogs post list but the breakpoints never hit.
  • The breakpoints have a message saying: "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document"

What am I doing wrong? Does the DLL has to reside in the Sharepoint bin folder to be able to debug it from Visual Studio?

I have succesfully debugged a web control that I created and placed on the same blog page.

OK, I solved it myself. I need to put the PDB files in the GAC as well..
