There is another solution for anonymous blogs with comments and moderation:

be careful with a public facing blog. It looks like anon. comments are posted with elevated priviledges so that all anon. comments show up as the system account. The downside to this, is that now if you have read only rights you can post anonymously. If the "Post Anon." check box is check, "Read-Only" users post comments as the system account. If it is uncheck, "Read-Only" users get access denied

The entering comments works great. It appears in the comment list as "Anonymous"; however, when an admin goes into the "Admin Links" to "Manage Comments", they can see exactly who entered the comment. The whole point of this is to allow users to feel confident that they are writing with anonymity, so this "back door" defeats the entire purpose.
